Katy, Texas is located approximately 30 miles west of downtown Houston on Interstate 10. It is the hub of three counties: Harris County, Fort Bend County and Waller County. Katy has the amenities of a major metropolitan area while offering a small town atmosphere.
Historically, Katy is an agricultural area. Rice was the major crop; soybeans were added as an alternate crop in the late 1950's. The Katy area has been the site of one of the United States largest gas fields since the early forties.
Since its founding in the 1890's, Katy has been a community dedicated to quality of life. Katy has an excellent school district, many different denominations of churches, parks, recreational facilities and commercial development. Katy is surrounded by great restaurants, shops, churches and the new Katy Mills mall. Katy Mills is a 1.6 million - square foot mall featuring 200 stores, theme restaurants, a 20-screen movie theater and high-quality, family-oriented entertainment venues.
A highlight of the Katy community is the annual Katy Rice Harvest Festival held every October. The festival really demonstrates small town America with its craft booths, carnival and local entertainment for family enjoyment.
If you're ever in the Houston area, we personally welcome you to stop by and visit Katy. You'll be glad you
